Tesla Motors is set to announce a $2.8 billion investment in its California manufacturing facility, but that investment won’t happen immediately.
The announcement was made on Friday, the first day of Tesla’s earnings call.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk will say on the earnings call that he’s “looking forward to sharing more details with the public at a later date.”
Tesla will also report financial results on Monday, and a third quarter outlook is expected later this month.
Musk said during the earnings presentation that Tesla will be investing $700 million in the facility, which is located on the outskirts of Sacramento, California.
Tesla said that it expects to bring in about 1,000 jobs during its construction phase.
The $2 billion investment is a drop in the bucket compared to Tesla’s previous investments in California.
In July, Musk announced the Tesla Gigafactory would be producing at least 1 million cars per year.
